SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY

The forty^slxth anniversary of the Trinity Methodist Sunday School was celebrated on' Sunday, The preachers were: Morning, Rev.: W. Shirer; afternoon, Rev. W. .G. Sla.de, M.A. ; evening, Rev. 5 ,E. Drake (pastor of the church). The children and choir rendered special hymns under the leadership of mi. T. Sims, superintendent of the school. Mts. Webb presided at the.organ. Both congregations and collections were far in advance of last year. On Tuesday evening a number of - children and their parents assembled at tea, after which the anniversary gathering was held. The hymns were again rendered, and recitations were given by Loveday Chisholm, Max Bosher, and Jean Ashby. The Rev. Dr. Pinfold and Mr. ,C. M. Luke also gave interesting addreeees. The balance-sheet, read by Mr. S. Bosall, showed a total .income of £91 4s sd; over £21' had been raised for foreign missions and £8 10s for home missions; £15 had been devoted to the new building fund, and there is a balance in hand of over £6. The report read by Mr. A; Parker, showed a good year's work; there being 256 scholars on the roll, an increase of 28 for the year, with 21 teachers. The number on the cradle roll is 62; there are 78 in the infant department and 39 in the primary school. The Young Men's\ Bible Class has, a membership of 25, whilst that of the young women, under Mies Ward, stands at 28. Each class.shows much interest in the general' work of the church and of outside 'philanthropic institutions. The library Report showed that ' the scholars are well catered for in the provision of healthy reading. During the evening the Chairman, the Rev. E. Drake, distributed the prizes for conduct, attendance, and tablet work.
