SIGNALS OF DISTRESS
ACCIDENT ON A STEAMER.

AUCKLAND, 10th November. An accident occurred on Sunday afternoon in tho engine-room of the steamer Kaitangata, en route from Wellington to Auckland. A wiroless message states that a-steampipo burst, badly ecaldin" the third engineer. Tho Arahura saw the Kaitangata. ■ flying distress signals, but was advised that her services wero not required, as repairs were being effected. Tho Kaitangata now advises by wireless that she will arrive; at daybreak this morning.
