FATAL MOTOR ACCIDENT
ONE PERSON KILLED; OTHERS INJURED.
, <»T TELEGRAPH.— SPBCIAI TO THE POST.) • ■ MASTERTON, This Day. A motor fatality occurred on Hnghes- . iine, between Carterton and Mastertou, on Sunday afternoon. A seven-seater motor-car, purchased four days ago by Mr. William James Biggs, motor upholsterer, Masterton, and driven by Mr. Biggs, with his wife and five children as occupants, left the metal road and ploughed along the grass. In recovering the road, 'the motor turned over, pinning Mr! Biggs face downward by the,-neck. Mrs! Biggs and three children were also pinned undomeath, while two of -the children were thrown clear. Mr. V\V: E. E. Tylee, of Masterton, was the first upon the scene of the accident. ,A.;boy,,aged 16, had crawled clear and Wieased a'Bister, aged 9,' who was pinned by the ankles. Mr. Tylee jacked up the .car, rescued Mn Biggs, and, removed the >;body of Mr. Biggs, whose neck was jbfdken'. f Medical help was summoned, and Dr. JHelen Cowie arrived and rendered assistance to the sufferers. 5. The injuries sustained by Mrs. Biggs .are internal. One of the children, Kathleen, had tho right collar-bone broken. •;The remainder of the boys and girls were bruised and shaken, and are sufferiing from shock. > peceased hailed from Australia, where relations reside.
