A welcome-home "social" was tendered at Ascot Lodge, Opaki, last evening, to the soldiers of Opaki who recently returned from active service.' The annual meeting of the Opaki Rifle Club was held in Masterton on Friday evening, when it was decided to alter the name of the club to the MastertonOpaki Rifle Club. The annual report showed that twenty-nine members of the club served in the war, six of whom were killed in action and five wounded. Ins viewing the events of the past year, the club must be congratulated on providing the winner of the Dominion Rifle Championship, in Mr. R. J. King, this being the fourth time since 1902 that the club has had this distinction. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follow: —Patron, Mr. A. W. Hogg; vicepatron, Mr. H. G. Williams; president, Mr. V. Donald; deputy-president, Mg. R. .J. King. 'At the conclusion of the meeting, the trophies won during tile past season were presented.
