Th» price' of vegetables is the text of a letter from a correspondent ("Health"). The writer says : "Almost immediately after the outbreak of war the price of vegetables advanced at least 100 per cent., and in some cases considerably higher. Turnips, carrots, parsnips, lettuce, and onions immediately increased from Id to 2d per bundle, and at the same tinw the bundles were reduced to half the size, while cabbages, cauliflowers, and such like went up to enormous prices. . . It is to' "bo hoped that now the Board'of Trade will be clothed with powers to enable them to deal with this matter, that they will see that the price of vegetables, which are so necessary for the health of the community, is brought within the reach of aIL"
