MR. HUGHES RETURNS
STERN WARNING AGAINST BOLSHEVISM
A CHAMPION OF SOLDIERS'
EIGHTS.
(DNITED PRESS ASSOCIITION.—COPIRIOHT.)
FREMANTLE, 23rd August.
Mr. W. M. Hughes and Sir Joseph Cook have arrived. They had an enthusiastic welcome. Returned, soldiers and sailors dragged their motor-cars to the Town Hall. Mr. Hughes was wearing a soldier's hat, his own having been removed.
Mr. Hughes addressed a great gathering at the Town Hall. He sternly warned the public against any attempts in the way of Bolshevism. If any party attempted to usurp power by unconstitutional means, then by horse, foot, and artillery he would oppose them. Short of niurder or marrying more than one wife at a time, every returned soldier could count on him looking after his rights.
(Received August 25, 10 a.m.)
FEJEMANTLE, This Day.
Mr. Hughes, in his speech, said that Australia's war debt amounted to .3300,000.000; and her share of the indemnity would be between £20,000,000 and £50,000,000.
He declared that he was against the profiteer and the Bolshevik.- If he had his way he would shoot them both.
