EASTBOURNE BOROUGH COUNCIL
The last meeting of the Eastbourne Borough Council was attended by the following: The. Mayor (Mr. Mather), and Councillors Black, Foley, Fisher, Green, M'Pherson, Manley, Marsden, and Maver. . \
It was decided that the whole council should inspect the Muritai culvert, with a view to ascertaining the best means of extending it from the sandhills. A letter was received from the Lower Hutt Borough Council agreeing to the electionof^Mx-. H. Black to the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board to represent the combined districts of Lower Hutt_and Eastbourne.
The Finance Committee's action in remitting 50% of. the rates, duo from the Rona, Bay and Muritai Tennis Clubs, provided tile balance is paid in fourteen days, was approved ;.also the committee's action in declining a\ remission of rates due from the Eastbouriie Borough Council. .
The Reserves Committee reported tfiat an eleaguus hedge for planting in the Recreation Grounds had been obtained, and it was proposed that the services of a working'bee should be obtained to plant the hedge. . The committee also-reported the gift of twelve memorial' trees for the Muritai Park from Mr. H. Black, and 100 pine trees from Mr. Nicol, of Wellington, for planting 'on the south side of fehe esplanade.
It was reported that tho borough had been inspected by the Health Department, and the recommendations had been received. These had been forwarded to the persons concerned, with the demand that the nuisances complained of be remedied.1
