MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE ■MEETS.,
The Management Committee of the Wellington Rugby Union held its weekly meeting last evening, those present being Messrs. W. F. Hornig (in the chair), J. N. Millard, W. W. Cook, E. Perry, S. Jackson, E. H. Ward, J. Lundon, J. Prendeville, H. Buck, and the secretary (Mr. T. H. Jones).
At last week's meeting of the Management Committee a deputation from the Referees' Association intimated its desire to have the power to appoint all referees, both for cup and other matches. It was decided last night to hold the matter over for furtlfcr consideration.
. The following transfers were approved :—A. M'Carlie from War Expenses Club to the Athletic Club, and M. Toogood from Old Boys' Club to the Wellington Club. .
Permission was granted the State. Advances Office to play its annual match against the Land and Income Tax Department on No. 2 Athletic Park.
Wellington College was granted the use of Athletic Park for 25th, 27th, and 29th. August, for. the inter-Collegiate tournament. ..
A letter was received from the Lower Hutt Borough Council stating that the union would be granted permission to charge admission to the Recreation Grounds on not more than six Saturdays during the current season.
The Kelson Football Union wrote asking if it would be possible for a B team to go across. It was decided to reply that it would be impossible to send a team this season.
In -connection-with the appointment of referees for representative and interprovincial matches, it was decided that the local Appointment Board submit four names to , the Wellington. Rugby Union for submission to the union concerned.
A silver challenge, oup was offered by Mr. John Swinson for senior competitions, the conditions , being left to the union to arrange. It was decided that the -cup be awarded to the senior champions, bat not to be won outright. A hearty vote of thank was accorded Mr. Swinson for his generous action.
The Management Committee wish- it to be noted that owing to-the altered, train a-rrangements the junior representative match with Wairarapa, which was fixed for Saturday next, has been indefinitely postponed, also attention is drawn to the fact that in future the special football train to Pctone will not run.
Senior championship fixtures for Saturday, 12th July, were made as follow: — Petone v. Athletic, at Athletic. Park; Poneke v. Wellington, at Lower Hutt; and University v. Oriental^ at Duppastreet; Sehvyn a bye.
