HOUSES FOR WORKERS
A correspondent, "Workers' Dwellings," suggested in last night's Post that the Labour Department should be given, power to acquire houses and give the occupants the option of buying and paying off the amount as rent. Ore inquiry it is ascertained, that the Department has power to purchase existing houses, and occasionally does so. Any applicant for a worker's dwelling may submit an offer of either tho house ho occupies, or any other property, for consideration by the Workers' Dwellings Board. The weekly, instalment would ; of cowse, depend on. tho cost and ago of the- property, and could not be limited to 16s, or any oi.her amount, a.s the correspondent suggests.
