STUDYING DOMINION'S REQUIRE-

MENTS.

When the Hon. D. H. G-uthrie took lup the portfolio of Minister of Lands |i fifteen months ago he announced his intention of making a systematic tour of a.ll parts of New Zealand for the purpose of getting a grip of the requirements of the country from a land administration point of view. The task has proved a big one, especially as the Minister was last year detained in Wellington for several months by his duties as Acting-Minister in charge of Imperial Supplies. Now, however, the intention is almost fulfilled, for the West Coast tour, which the Minister will commence on Friday, will practically complete his survey o£ the lands of tlie Dominion. Mr. Guthrie will leave for Picton on Friday, and, after meeting deputations, will proceed to Blenheim the same evening. Saturday he will spend in the Blenheim district, visiting Grasmere swamp and Erina soldier settlements. He will reach Havelock in the afternoon. Monday will be spent in Nelson, and on Tuesday the Minister will go on to Motueka and Glenhope. On Wednesday he will leave for Westport, via Murchisori. On the succeeding days his itinerary wil be:-—26th. June, leave for Reefton; 27th, leave for Greymouth; 28th, leave for Rofcomanu, via Kumara, thence to Hokitika-; 30th, leave Hokitika for Ross, ant! return to Hokitika; Ist July, leave for Greymouth and Otira; 2nd, arrive in Wellington. Numerous deputaions have arranged to meet the Minister at various points of the tour, which promises to be as busy as any that have preceded it.
