At 9 a.m. to-day the following forecast was issued for the subsequent 24 hours:—
Winds—Westerly, strong to gale, changing to southerly.
Barometer—Falling tendency, but rising after 24 hours.
Seas—Heavy between Castiepoint and Kaikoura and southward of Capo Eginont; moderate to rouKh elsewhere.
Tides—High in Foveau'x Strait: good elsewhere.
\V;irnuig signals for westerly gales are exhibited at Cape Maria Van Diemen, Tiritiri (East Cape interrupted), Castlepoint, Capo Campbell, Stephen Island, Farewell Spit, Cape Foulwind, and Nugget Point. Weather—Squally, with heavy showers, and * very cold night generally.
