WAR WORKERS
QUESTION OF REPATRIATION. (Prom odr own cokresfom>bnt.) ; • LONDON, 27th March. After protracted negotiations between New Zealand and the .various organisations concerned in this country an arrangemont has been arrived at for the return to New Zealand on special terms of war workers under the War Contingent Association and the New Zealand Red Cross. The decision is that those who have done a year'.B work or more shall be entitled to a passage back to Now Zealand at the rate of £29 (irot-clasn or £12 10.3 GBCond-cla&s. All applications for this concession are being considered by a board consisting of the Hig-li Commissioner, the Chairman of tho War Contingent Association (Mr. I. W. Raymond), and the Chairman of the New Zealand Red Cross' (Col. the Hon. R. H. Rhodes). Mr. Raymond, who has been moving in this matter for some time, oxpresscs disappointment at the arrangement made, considering that tho war dragged on for years longer than was expected, arid that tho cost of living became a serious problem. Ho thinks that those who continued their earviccs without foo in tho circumstances woro deserving of repatriation at the expenso of tho countl-y.
