KING'S THEATRE.
The combination of music and pictures has been a popular innovation at The King's Theatre, and this week's programme must be counted a distinct success. To crowded houses on Saturday, Miss Carrie Lanceley and her company gave of their beet. Miss Lanceley has a. sweet soprano voice', which is powerful, yet colourful. She displays, too, a nice freedom of interpretation, which is pleasing in these days of stereotyped conformity to <i set standard. ■ She sang the "Jewel Song" from "Faust," and delighted all with the " Dear Little Shamrock." " Comin' Thro' the Eye," and "I Did Not Know," and as a finale gave "Love's Garden of Roses" and "My Hero," with full orchestral accompaniment. The ofiect was charming. Miss Ava Symons, violinist, showed artistry in her solos and obligatos, and Miss Nellie Simpson, the popular flautist, was responsible for some fine playing. Miss Doris Struble, as well as acting as accompanist, recited and gave indications of elocutionary power. The company met with a most enthusiastic reception, their performance deserving whole-hearted recognition. The pictures include Tom Moore and Madge Kennedy in a well-mounted society comedydrama, "Kingdom of Youth," an exceptional kind of film; there are travel and newsy scenics, a Triangle comedy, and another " Scarlet Runner " episode, starring Earle Williams. The orchestra, under Mr. Austin, provides much musical entertainment. The programme shows nightly during the week. By special request to-night MLw Lanceley will sing "Parted."
