WELLINGTON CENTRAL ELECTION

IMPERSONATION CHARGES.

The Wellington Central by-election was recalled when a point of law in connection with the trial of James Luke Raglan, before Mr. JuEtice Chapman at the November criminal sessions, was raised before the Full Court yesterday. R-aglan was charged with impersonation, and with applying for a voting paper in his own name when he had already voted. Raglan pleaded guilty to two counts. A legal point raised before Mr. Justice Chapman was that Raglan, not having voted in his own name, was entitled to apply for h'.s own voting paper. His Honour ruled that having once voted, whether in his own name or not, Raglan committed an ofi'enee by applying for a voting paper in his own name, lie directed the jury on these lines, and the 'point brought before the Full Court yesterday was whether the direction was correct. Mr. P. S. K. Macassey appeared for the Crown, and Mr. H. F. O'Leary for Baglan. Judgment was reserved.
