Racing along the back Sweet Corn was clear, Rude and Tressida being next. Passing the five furlongs, Kilrush and Heathercote improved their positions. Sweet Corn dropped out at the bend, where Rude and Tressida were still at the head of affairs. The field closed up at the turn, Glendower and Vagabond entering, the straight first. Vagabond had a slight advantage at the distance, but Glendower won by a head from Heathercote. Time, 2min 19 3-ssec.
