WHAKATANE FROM NEW YORK. '

On Monday evening the Whakatane is to leave Auckland,for Wellington, where she will dischargo New York cargo. Up to a year ■ ago the Whakatane was trading to New Zealand, when she was diverted to the South American-European trade. Captain S. L. Martin is in command, and has with him the .following officers:—First, Mr. W. T. Point; second, Mr. J. H. Thomas; third, Mr. J. MorRan; chief engineer, Mr. W. B. Smith; second, Mr. J. M. Smith; third, Mr. W. H. Somerville; fourth, Mr. R. R. Havelock; chief steward, Mr. 0. H. Clark. On her present voyage the third engineer (Mr. J. B. Wallace) died of influenza and bronchitis, and was buried at sea.

RBIUTAKA REACHES COLON.

Advice received by the New Zealand Shipping Company states that the Rimutaka arrived at Colon on Thursday last from Plymouth. The Rimutaka, with troops, Is expected in' Wellington on the 26th May.

WESTRALIA, FROM MELBOURNE. j

The Westralla left Melbourne at 6.30 p.m. on Thursday for Wellington direct, where she is due on Tuesday, The vessel carries 1500 tons of cargo for Wellington, Lyttelton, IJuuedin, and Bluff, but ha 3no passengers. On Wednesday next she will leave Wellington for southern ports and Melbourne ■with pasßengers. From Dunedin and Lyttelton the Monowai arrived at Wellington this morning, and is to sail at 8 o'clock thi3 evening for Napier, Glsborne, and Auckland. There was no accumulation of New Zealand cargo awaiting shipment at New York when the Whakatano left there- in March. She loaded all that was offering an the. time. There is, however, awaiting shipment to Australian ports cargo sufficient to keep aJi ships available for that trade busy for soma time. The Kurow, which has ar.-lved in Wellington from Sydney with general cargo, Is to load here for Vancouver, and is expected to sail for that port on Thursday next. The Ajana is timed to ieavo Wellington on Wednesday afternoon for Liverpool, via Panama. The future movements of the Alokoia, now undergoing overhaul at Port Chalmers, are not yet definitely fixed, but she may enter the coastal passenger and cargo trade for a trip or two. The report that the Mokoia is to enter the Auckland-Sydney service is stated not to be authentic. On the 22ud April the Glaucus, recently at Wellington, left Port Kembla for Noumea, where she will loud guano for Dunedin. The JJikau leaves Wellington on Tuesdaj for Kelson, and on arrival at that port will lay up for overhaul for about ten days. On Tuesday the. steamer Inea is to a fill from Greymcuth for Sydney with cargo.

Cable advice states that the barque Antiope loft San Francisco on the 28th April for Auckland with a cargo of case oil. She is expected in New Zealand towards the «nd of June. On Wednesday last the brigantine Aratapu arrived at Dunedln from Wellington. With passengers and cargo the Komata is to sail from Wellington on Tuesday next for Westport. I The Ngahere left lyttelton yesterday for Pitt Island to load sheep for that port. To complete dischargo of her cargo from Home the Bhamo is to leave Wellington on Monday next for Dunedin. On the SOth Mny the Euapehu is leaving London for Auckland and Wellington, via Pa- | i.ama. The Euahine is to sail from London on the 19th May for Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. At daybreak to-morrow the liner Hororata is to get away from Wellington for London, via Panama. For Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and New Fealand ports, the Opawa is to leave London on the 15th May, coming via the Cape of Good Hope.
