The results of. the evening runs in connection with the Wairarapa Amateur Athletic Club on Thursday were as follow : —7syds Handicap, Vesty j_ one mile Handicap,' E. M'Ewen;. three mile Cycle Race, Picken; Pole Vault, Vesty. Buchanan feelingly responded. Lieutenant-Colonel Percy R. Cook has resumed the practice of his profession in Masterton.

The Masterton electoral roll for the licensing referendum contains about 500 more names than were on the' roll for the general election in 1914.

The Masterton Labour Party has selected a "ticket" to be run. for the municipal election. The selection was made under the preferential voting system. _ The Citizen's Committee intends running a ticket against the Labour Party. -

A branch of the Grocers' Union has been formed in Masterton. A resolution has been passed demanding a number of reforms. These include a Saturday half-holiday, and the abolition of long nights.

The final contest for the shield- in connection with the Wairarapa bowling centre is being played at Carterton today.

Mr."Walter Harding has been elected to succeed Mr. R. Devonshire as secretary of tho .Wairarapa Amateur Athletic Club.

A petition is being presented to the Masterton County Council by Lansdown residents, praying that a poll be taken on the % proposal to raise a loan for acquiring the Macara estate property as a public park. .
