FRESH OUTBREAK OF INFLUENZA.

TREMENDOUS DEATH RATE.

(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COPYRIGHT.)

(AUSTRALIAN-NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.)

(Received February 24, 9.50 p.m.)

LONDON, 20th- February.

There is every indication that the present outbreak of influenza will likely equal the October ■ epidemic, which resulted, in 150,000 deaths. Hundreds of fresh cases are hourly reported, the doctors are over-worked, and there is a 'great'shortage of nurses. . The outbreak in the South of Ireland continues to spread, with an alarmingly high death-rate. Some of the doctors are complaining of the scarcity of whisky and brandy; ' They assert that more'spirits would save thousands of lives. (The Times.)
