A meeting of sports bodies is to be held at'the'Y.M.C.A. building on Wednesday, next, at 8 p.m. The following circular has been addressed to. kindred bodies: —"The election of Wellington city councillors is to take place in April, and the composition of the council is of the utmost importance to the sports bodies of the city. For a considerable number of years ' past sports bodies, especially those, controlling winter pastimes, have been subjected 'to unduly heavy charges for the use of our Corporation reserves. We contend that as citizens providing clean -and healthysport for the upbringing,of future citizens, wo are entitled to consideration at the hands of the council.. The charges are unquestionably exorbitant, and weigh heavily on the slender finances ...of struggling sports bodies. A-meeting is called for Wednesday, sth March, when the whole position will be reviewed. 'A number of gentlemen who are probable candidates, for city councillorship will attend and place their views before. the meeting. We propose to ask members o£ sports bodies on • the roll to pledge themselves to candidates who are in sympathy with our just demands." ..
