Saturday afternoon was particularly busy at the Town Hall Competitions, for entries were large, and a good number of classes were contested. Further results are: —

Bosher, Wellington; Miss Jean E. Drew, Lyall Bay; Miss Marie M'Carthy, Miramar; Miss Nancy Cashman, Wellington; Miss Joyce Whitehead, Lyall Bay; Miss Phyllis Martin, Wellington; Master Raymond Whitehead, Lyall Bay; Miss Stella Chapman, Christchurch; Miss Sinclair Breen, Wellington. Recalls: Miss Fay Smith ("Prince Arthur"), Master Bosher ("The Bootblack"), and Miss Stella Chapman ("Little Red Riding Hood")).

' Misses Kathleen O'Brien, Jean Sutherland, and Fanny Hyman, and Master Larsen were highly commended. Recitation, Boys, 9 and under 12. "The Lamplighter" (Stevenson). —Competitors: Master Roland Ferkins, Island Bay; Master John Neale, Wellington; Master Hector Larsen, Wellington; Master Arthur Williams, Wellington; Master George E. Cox, Wellington; Master Roy Wale, Newtown; Master Harold Crawford, Wellington; Master Victor Hanlon, Wellington. Mr. Montague said that ho was a-little disappointed in this class, one of the faults being a lack of appreciation of rhythm. Certain competitors were inclined to mispronounce "is." This he considered was a very great pity indeed. Master Harold Crawford was awarded the first prize, 136 marks; Master John Neale the second, with 129 marks; and Master Hector Larsen gained third place, with 128 marks. Masters Roy Wale and Victor Hanlon were particularly mentioned.

Two' bands of children, competed for the prizes 'offered for the children's chorus, Marist Bros.' School, Newtown, being placed first for their singing of "The Deathless Army," with 137 points; and the Aro-street Mission chorus ("Hail, Smiling Morn ") second, with 134 points.

The juvenile choir from the Marist Bros.' School, Newtown, also carried off the challenge shield presented by Messrs'; Begg and Co. for competition between bona fide school choruses or Sundayschool choirs. They were awarded 152 points, and then came the Aro-street Mission Sunday-school Choir, with 143 points, and the Brooklyn Methodist Sun-day-school Choir, with 141 points. The winners sang "When Thro' Life," and the other choirs " Oh, Hush Thee, My Baby."
