TRAMWAYS ENTERTAINERS.

The concert promoted by the Tramway Entertainers, in the concert chamber of the Town Hall on Saturday evening was a- great success. • It was organised by the Tramways' Entertainers, wiio were assisted by the * Tramways Military Band, and was in aid of a distressed bandsman. There was a crowded house. A bright opening, chorus Iry the company was followed by a tenor solo by Mr. H. Dunn,, who sang with charm and marked effect. The onus of creating mirth fell to the lot of Mr. E. Ramsay, who was eminently successful in "By Bassoon." He was also particularly amusing in a concerted number, "Tallyho," in which he was assisted by Messrs. Dunn and V. Carruthers. A unique item was that. furnished, by Bandsmen Athwaite, Tonkin, Hargreaves, and Donaldson, which, according to the programme was a "saxophone quartette, the first of its kind in New Zealand." A strong favourite with the audience was a aoiij, and dance, "No, Sir," prettily presented by two wee girls Esma and Francis Clisby. A coon song by Mr. W R. Dixon, and a vocal solo by Miss E. F. Laws, were warmly applauded. Mr. F. Andrews accompanied Miss Almond in a pleasing musical monologue, and subsequently proved himself an adept at creating quaint effects on the keyboard. Mr. A. Blight exhibited his skill in club swinging. Many and baffling were the conjuring tricks performance by Mr. H. Liardet, who helped in no small degree to the success of the entertainment. There was a delectable rendering of melodies by Miss Stroobant and Messrs. Spencer, Stroobant, ■ and Ward. A cornet solo by Bandsman Vincent, and a comic duet by Messrs. V. and E. Carruthers concluded a bright entertainment-. The orchestra wse under the baton of Mr. G. W. Bowes, and Mr. B. Mayall capably filled, the position of pianist.

The final performance, in Wellington of "Business before Pleasure" was given in the Grand Opera House on Saturday night and was thoroughly enjoyed by a large audience.
