STATE FOOD STOCKS
DEMAND FOR REDUCED PRICES,
LONDON, 13th February There is a growing demand for a reduction of. food prices. The Food Controller possesses large supplies of bacon, tea, and meat, purchased in expectation pf the war continuing until 1919. Trad-1 ers declare that the prices are much above market value. The Treasury opposes the reduction as entailing a loss of several millions sterling. The Food. Controller is pressing tho War Cabinet to overrule the Treasury.
