SHIP'S TIME CLOCK.
New Yoj-k City is to have a publio clook striking ship's time. It was donated to the^ city, as a memorial to the American soldiers and sailors who havo died during the war. The donor said in a letter: —"It has been brought to my attention that you are contemplating the instalment of a clock in the tower on the outer end of Pier A., North River, and that this' clock is to be equipped with » chime that shall strike ship's time—the only universal time throughout the world. It would be eminently fitting to consecrate such a' olock to the memory of those brave soldier and sailor lads of America- who have given their all in order that the spirif; of human liberty might' be universal ' among the nations of earth. May I suggest that the sentjment behind your idea so appeals to me that I should deem it an honour to be permitted to present the clock to the citizens of New York to be maintained as a memorial to those qf our soldien and tailors who have died in order (tat freedom aught'live ?.'-'-
