LORD RHONDDA'S CATTLE.
Upwards of 40,000 guineas were realised by the sale of the late Lord Rhondda'. Hereford herd at LJanwern, near Newport. This average of more than 200 guineas per head ie 70 guinea* above the previous best average for Hereford* in the OH Country. Buyers attended from all parts,'- and the King's representative secured four calve* at prices ranging from 90 to 150 guineas. Mr. G. H. Drummdnd, of Penehuret, Kent, paid 2300 guineas for the three-year-old bull Sir Sam, sire of most of the promising young stock of the herd, and Mr. Trotman, the late Lord Rhondda's bailiff, bought the yearling bull America, son of Sir Sam, for 1150 guineas.
