ACTION IN RUSSIA

HOT SENATE DEBATE

ON AMERICAN INTERVENTION

(DNIKD PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COPIIUGHT.)

( AUSTRALIAN-NEW ZEALAND CABLB ASSOCIATION.) (Received February 14, 2,30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, 13th February.

.There was a renewal of the hot debate in the Senate on - the American policy regarding Russia. Senator Johnson demanded a vote for the withdrawal of the Americans from Russia. He pointed out that Mr. Lloyd George was the only source of information the American people had as to what their armies were doing in Russia, and as to whether new armies had been despatched or not. Senator Lodge agreed that it would be better if the United States refrained, rather than intervene in the weak way it was now in-

tervening. The resolution was shelved.
