STATE COAL MINERS
INTEREST IN BLACKBALL
DISPUTE
There is every indication that the various miners' Unions have placed themselves beyond the control of the Miners' Federation. The State coal miners, who decided to remain idle until a practitioner was appointed to the district, have now a further eicuse for not returning to work. It is authoritatively stated that they have decided not to resume work uhtil the men dismissed by the Blackball Company, as a result of the receilt trouble at the Blackball mine, have befen reinstated.
It is of interest to note that in the meantime work is proceeding as usual at Blackball. Owing to the failure of the Districts Disputes Committee to settle the dispute, arrangements are now being made for the setting up of. a National Disputes Committee, which will probably meet in Wellington next week. It is further stated that the men dismissed at Blackball have left the district.
