In advocating to-day that 'a. National Art Gallery should be established as a worthy memorial of the deeds of valour of New Zealand's -soldiers, Mr. H. _I. Gore (as a. member of a deputation) remarked that it was only fitting that the foundation of such an institution should be laid during the term of the National Government. "It's a great temptation," interjected the Hon. (i. W. Russell, facetiously, and the deputation laughed. Mr. R. A. Wright, M^P., said later on that- if the foundation-stone was to be laid by the National Government it would have to be laid quickly.
