NEW ZEALAND SCHOOL CHAM-

PIONSHIPS.

Early next month in Christchurch, the annual school swimming championships of New Zealand will be competed for. The event is considered in swimming circles to be one of prime importance, as youthful swimmers from all parts of the Dominion are matched in contest. Last evening, at the Te Aro Baths, trial races of local swimmers were organised, in order to determine who will form the Wellington quota to journey to Christchurch. The trials resulted as under: Ladies : M. Allen 1, E. Buckmaster 2. Time, 91 l-ssec. Intermediate girls : D. Donnelly 1, J. Post 2. Time, 90 4-ssec. Intermediate boys : H. Anderson. Time, 72sec: Provincial school championships, including boys' and girls' races, were also held last evening, and the results were : 50yds, Boys : First heat—L. Coogan 1. C. Claridge 2, R. Rountree 3. Time, 38sec. Second heat—H. Fannall 1, J. Calnan 2, U. Shannon 3. Time, 35 2-5 sec. Final—C. Claridge 1, L. Coogan 2, H. Fannall 3. Time, 34 4-ssec. A, good race. Won by the narrowest of margins.
