LOCAL CONFERENCES?
Mr. H. C. Fleming, President of the Auckland Master Carriers' Association,, stated to a Star reporter : "In view of the fact that the two conferences already held in Wellington have proved abortive, the only hope of an amicable settlement, in our opinion, lies in holding local conferences at each, centre, where employers and employees can meet and discuss their differences entirely untrammelled by outside interference. The necessary stops have already been taken in this direction, by citation to a conciliation council, and we have every confidence that the deliberations of this body will result in a satisfactory and amicable settlement."
