Yesterday the French full-rigged ship Amiral Cecille, ten days out from Auckland, was towed into Wellington by the togs Pelican and Karaka. At 4 a.m. yesterday the vessel was 2.) miles south-west of Pencarrow, and the pelican left to bring her in soon after. Later j the Karaka assisted, and the anchorage was

made about 8,40 p.m. The ship berthed this morning at the King's Wharf to discharge about 2600 tons of .cargo. The Amiral Ceoille, of 2695 tons, was built at Rouen in 1902. She : carries two4-in guns and smoke-boxes for smoke screens, and her crew, consisting of some 30 men, are French nival reserve men. Captain Brigandy is in command, and he has -with him Monsieur J. Duhamel as chief officer, and Monsieur G. Coquet as second officer. As no news has been received of the Japanese steamer Kosoku Maru, which ..was re ported as having left Japan in November for Sew Zealand ports, it is thought that she has been diverted, probably to Sydney. The ship Amy Turner is expected to get away from Lyttelton to-morrow in ballast for San Francisco. The Waitangi, recently purchased by the Patea Farmers' Co-operative Association for the Wellington-Patca trade,' is due at Wellington from Auckland to-morrow, when alterations to fit her for the new trade will be carried out. On the 4th February the Union Steam Ship Company's steamer Waihora. left Calcutta for New Zealand ports, via Bunbury. She will arrive at Wellington about the 4th March. At San Francisco the American sailei Dunsyre has been chartered to load case oil for Wellington. The Dunsyre was at' Dunedin some months ago with oil, and then proceeded to Australia for wheat. The Melbourne, With caal from Newcastle, is duo at Lyttelton about the middle of the week. Coal is becoming scarce for all purposes in, Lyttelton owing to a number of colliers having been diverted to other ports. In the near future the steamers Argyllshire (now. in Australian waters), the Armagh (en route from England to Australia), and the Ajama (left England for Auckland) will probably load in New Zealand for Egypt or England. . I On Tuesday, 18th February, the Ruahine is due to leaTe Wellington for London. The Middleham Castle is due at Auckland on the 4th March from St. John, which port she left on the 28th January. The ship carries cargo for Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne, and Sydney. Next month the steamers War Music and Callone are to be loaded in New Zealand for England by the New Zealand Shipping Company.
