PUBLIC REMAINING CALM.
(PUBLISH!!) IN 188 TIMES.)
• # LONDON, 30th January. The, strike position in the various centres has become worse, if anything, though some of Che smaller disputes have been settled.' Ebwdyis3i s has commenced at Glasgow, the strikers derailing trams and assaulting non-strikers. There is much lawlessness in Belfast, and widespread burglaries and looting, owing to the streets being in darkness.
The Times says in an editorial: "Underneath the strike movement there is a deliberate intention to terrorise the public and create disorder, and by violence to realise the hope of bringing about Bolshevism. The public wisely is remaining calm."
