EIVEEINA IEAVES SYDNEY. ; A Press Association message Irom Sydney yesterday announced the departure from Sydney for Wellington of the Huddart-Parker steamer Riverina. The vessel is due at Wellington on Tuesday, but owing to the new rule regarding quarantine and the water-' siders' picnic on Wednesday, she will not commence discharge until Thursday. On this trip the Riverina will not go to Lyttelton, and will probably sail on Friday on the return trip

THE ESSEX. The New Zealand and African Company announces an alteration In the movements of the Essex. The liner will now leave Sydney to-day for Wanganui instead ot Wellington. She will arrive at Wellington from Wanganui to-morrow ■week, and will go on to Gisborne and Napier. The Essex will then return to Wellington, gnd will sait for Port Said, via Colombo, on the 21st February.

WAITANGI IN DOCK. On JCbnrsday last the Patea Farmers' new steamer Wnltangi went into dock at Auckland, and the vessel's hull was found to be in & good condition. She will undergo her annual overhaul -while in dock, anil as her machinery has to be overhauled, she is not expected to leave for Wellington until • the end of next weeE.

' The, Verdxme, which arrived at Port Chalmers yesterday with a cargo of ff^tl from Newcastle, will after discharge load 20,000 bales of wool for Hull and Immingham (England). She will sail for these ports about the 20th February.
