SERIOUS ACCIDENT
CYCLIST COLLIDES WITH A TRAIN.

WOODVILLE, This Day. A serious accident occurred at the railway crossing this morning. While the 7.45 train from Palmerston North was approaching the station, T. W. Hopper, a plumber, who was riding a motor-bicycle with a side-car, collided with the second carriage of the train. Hopper was thrown from the machine, and the carriage wheels passed over his left arm, crnshing it, and severing the hand. His skull was also fractured. Hopper was conveyed to the Pahiatua Hospital. He is in a low state, suffering severely from shock.
