A CHINESE PROTEST.

VANCOUVER, 29th January. The Chinese representative at the Peace Conference protested against Japan's claim for the retention of Tsingtao Harbour, the German railways, and Shantung. To deprive China of tliis province of 30,000,000 of people would, he said, leave Pekin and Tientsin difficult to defend.
