Mr. B. Carman, Lyall Bay, who has been in the Civil Service for about-* 15 years, chiefly with the Public Works Department, ha* been transferred to -tfie Stratford office of the Public Worte. Mr. Carman is one of the* oldest residents of Lyall\ Bay. He was a member of the Lyall -Bay school committee for six years, acting ac chairman for ■ two years, and was secretary of the Ratepayers' Association since its inception. He took a great interest in local sporting and social affaire, being connected with the LyalLßay Tennis and Bowling Club, organiser »nd secretary of the Owl Club, and a,member of the Wellington Orpjpuui?' Clnb and-sthet societies.
