At a meeting of a board Of guardians at Aahby-de-la Zouch recently rather an amusing discussion ..took place concerning a glass ey«. The board decided to provide! an inmate of the workhouse with a glass «ye. Then followed considerable discussion, as to' Whether the glass eye should be. the propjerty of the man or the guardians. However, a vote, was taken on the matter, and the decision arrived at w 9.3 that it should remain the property of the guardians. No doubt the matter was discussed seriously, but it certainly has its humorous sides.
Miss Anna Held, the French actress and singer; who died recently, owed some of her success to the efforts of her "publicity agents" in London, Paris ; and New York. An instance was th© engineered action by a. dairyman for ilie- price of ffreat quantities of mflki alleged to have beori used for her daily bath.
