ANSWERS TO CORRESPONDENTS.
"Taxi."—Toe fare to Otaki reckoned on a time basis, acceding to the City Council scale of charges, is 42s—15s for the first hour, 12s for each subsequent hour, and 3s for each subsequent quarter hour. The old scale of charges does not provide for payment for the return journey, but a proposed new seals. If adopted, will do so. By distance, the fare for one passenger for a 52-mile journey is £2 12s, and for two passengers double that amount. As a rule, an agreement is made before starting out on a long trip If any trouble is experienced the matter might be reported to the City Motor Inspector. *
