(BT IBLEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) ASHBURTON, This Day. There are 21 influenza patients in the . Ashburton hospital, and 31 at Methven. DUNEDIN, This Day. The Health Officer reports that influenza is no longer epidemic in Otago and Southland. There were only four admissions to the public hospital during the last twenty-four hours, aud two deaths. CARTERTON, This Ifey. The influenza epidemic is practically over. Since the outbreak there have been 9 deaths of residents in the borI ough and 17 in the country, including 3 natives. The prompt' and perfect orj ganisation quickly' got the complaint in hand, and' though a considerable num- , ber contracted it, the steps taken proved effective in controlling the disease. HOKITIKA, This Day. One death from influenza was reported for the week. All the auxiliary institutions in town and country are now closed. There are 31 patients in the Westland Hospital, one case being setious. The extra medical officer sent here' to assist left to-day, together with the medical student .who was struck down with influenza immediately on arrival. j ■ GREYMOUTH, This Day. A few mild cases are reported. The Technical School hospital is closing today. Fopr of the worst cases have been removed to the main hospital. The Greymouth Jockey and Trotting Globs will hold their races on the advertised dates. A meeting has been held at Otira line and a relief fund for the sufferers inaugurated. Later. Two more deaths occurred this morning, Mrs. E. O'Snllivan and Mts. Pearson. The latter's husband died last week. Heavy.rain has fallen during the past week, and the weather is more like winter than summer. REEFTON, This Day. Daring the week one death (the first , in the district) has occurred.
