IMMEDIATE STRIKE URGED
(Received December 7, 10 a.m.) LONDON, 6th December. There is a sudden crisis in the railway world, and those responsible for the September trouble are endeavouring to precipitate an immediate' strike unless the railway men's national programme is conceded in principle. Mr. J. H. Thomas has been recalled to London, where he is conferring with Sir Albert Stanley, of the. Board of Trade. Mr. Thomas has sent a message to.all railway men's branches that he has given the necessary notice to cancel the truce, with a view of bringing the national programme before the companies for negotiation, especially in regard to an eight-hour day.
