Mr. Rupert , Cranny, manager of the Wairarapa Bacon Factory, Carterton, who has difed from influenza, was (says the Wairarapa Daily News) at one time a very prominent footballer. A clever musician, he was bandmaster o!' the Carterton Band, and was in all capacities well-liked and highly esteemed.- He exercised his musical talent very freely for the pleasure of others, and played very regularly for the weekly entertainment* organised at Carterton for soldiers from the canape.
