CLEANSING THE CITIES
Drawing attention to the report of & meeting at Christchurch with regard to cleansing the cities, Mr. Ell asked in the House of Representatives to-day if the Minister for Public Health would toko powor under the new Public Health Act to compel local bodies to do their duty in this matter, and, if they did not, would ho send round inspectors and take'steps to havo the failure to act penalised by fines.
The, Hon. G. W. Russell replied that tho matter would receive very ' careful consideration, but ho did not think there was a possibility of passing' such an enactment this session.
