NO TIME TO THINK.

As an example of the whirl of things, thoughtlessly, through the House of Representatives, one section of the WaiLegislation Bill can be well mentioned. When the Bill was' in the Committee stage in the Houne last week, Mr. Downie Stewart moved that the section covering "persons of enemy origin" should not apply to members of the Expeditionary Force, technically of "enemy, origin," who were born out of New Zealand. The House did not seem to be conscious of any injustice in the-action of refusing full\citizen rights to men who had fought for 'the State. Mr. Stewart's suggestion received scant consideration, and' short shrift. The Legislative Council passed an amendment excluding' such men from the scope of the "enemy origin" section. This clause was accepted without demur last night by the House. " The Premier indicated his belief that the Council had acted rightly, and several memberp gave a "hear, hear." The House'seemed to have forgotten that this matter had been brushed aside by itself.
