ACTION BY SECOND DIVISION LEAGUE

The "following letter has been sent by the Second Division League to each member of Parliament: —

I am directed to forward you the following resolution passed at a meeting of the national executive last evening:— "That the national executive of the Second Division League 'views with alarm the contnued dilatoriness of the Government in regard to jthe question of repatriation—particularly in view of the fact that thousands of soldiers are now being discharged, and that official statements point to an early return of the men from overseas, and urges upon the Government and Parliament that no further delay be tolerated." There is a general feeling among the branches of the league that the proposal to appoint a; Board of Ministers, is not in the best"interests of the re-' turning soldiers nor of the community in general, and that one Minister should be given full control, and be wholly responsible for the wajjjring of the repatriation scheme. The league would also urge that political party considerations should not influence any selection made.

In view of suggestions that have appeared from time to time indicating that the session will be brought to an early termination, my executive desires to oxpre«» the hope'that members will not allow any matter of expediency to interfere with full consideration of all details of repatriation by the people's representatives. Regulations for the carrying out of the work of repatriation should be embodied, as far as is reasonably possible, in the .statutes, and should be critically examined" and determined upon by the whole Parliament. Trusting that you will use your influence to expedite a sound repatriation policy in all its details, as> being the most important problerm that the country has to face.
