The death is announced by Press Association telegram from Auckland of Sir Robert Lockhart, Bart. The deceased gentleman wag born in 1856, and succeeded to the title in 1904. For many years he had lived in the Auckland district, principally at Whangaroi, where he was in business as a merchant for some time. He has left a widow and two sons. Mr. J. Swinnerton, of Christchurch, who for the past 39 years has been a prominent figure in Druidic circles in New Zealand, is dead, aged 76. In 1879 the Grand Lodge of Druids in Victoria opened three new lodges in New Zealand, and appointed Mr. Swinnerton as A.D. of the Mistletoe Lodge. In 1880 Bro. Swinnerton was appointed D.P. for New Zealand, and during that year of office he succeeded in opening twelve new lodges, four in Otago, one in Greymouth, one in Wellington,, and six in Canterbury. He was elected District Grand President in 1896. About three years ago Bro. Swinnerton relinquished the office of secretary of the Pioneer Lodge, he having filled that position for 25 years.
