Regulations have been approved.bythe Minister for Defence for the temporary promotion of non-commissioned officer* for voyage from tho United Kingdom or EgypttoiNow Zealand. Soldieremay be appointed under-this authority to,act as non-commissioned officers during the voyage from the United Kingdom, or any other place of embarkation, to New Zealand, in the following .proportions■ to the strength of the returning draft: — One sergeant for every^complete thirty; one corporal for every complete twenty;, one ship's ■ sergeant-major; one provost sergeant; onb troop-deck, mess-room, and dormitory sergeant; one ship's or-derly-room sergeant and record clerk. No extra-duty pay to non-conitaisßioned officers holding the' appointments will be paid. They will be paid at the rates laid down for. their temporary rank or appointments in the.ExpeditionaryForSe. Temporary appointments made for the voyage only will, lapse from the date of disembarkation in New Zealand.
