WELLINGTON'S ZOO
For some time past Mr. A. R. Young, M.R.C.V.S., Veterinary Supervisor, Department of Agriculture,-has given'valuable assistance to the Reserves Committee as honorary adviser in connection with the rapidly-growing Newtown Zoo. Ho has taken, a deep interest in the pro^ gress of the Zoo, and under' his directions many improvements likely to better, the health of the animals have/been carried out. Mr. Young was recently thanked for what lie had done, and his reply'to the letter forwarded by the Town Clerk is ofl general interest.. He states:—"l should' be pleased if you would convey to the. Reserves Committee of your council my thanks for its expressions of appreciation for services rendered, as conveyed in your letter of 9th instant. Be so good as to inform it that it is a pleasure indeed to be. able to be of assistance to it, and that I am ever willing. to give my services when sought. Especially is this so because I feel that your Zoo\ will be, in comparison to the human.populations,of the different countries, if, indeed it is hot already, well in the forefront of 200s. throughout'• the world. Provided that harmonious relations exist between your council and the Zoological Society, there is no reason why our city cannot have an institution that'all New Zealanders well might be proud." .-'■■ ..'!..':•''...
