A FATAL FALL
An inchest was held by Mr. W, G. Riddell, S.M., yesterday afternoon relative to, the death of Mr. Arthiir Cecil Rolleston, aged 51 years, at the Wellington Hospital on Saturday afternoon following a fall in Manners-street on Friday evening. Evidence was given by Mr. H. F. Yon Haast, who appeared on behalf of the relatives, of deceased, that deceased was a .married man, his wife residing in, England.'- Recently he; had been practising as a solicitor at the, Chatham Islands, but cf«ne to Wellington on business about five weeks ago. Dr. William Douglas Fitzgerald, house) surgeon at the Wellington Hospital, stated that deceased was admitted to the hospital about 7 o'clpck on Friday evening in an unconscious state. Deceased recovered consciousness Jpr about thirty seconds while witness was examining him, but from then on his coni dition became steadily worse, and h«! died at 3.45 p.m. ,on Saturday. Dearth was due to a fracture of the ba;se.of the skuUi which could result from a fall on the pavement. A verdict was returned that deceased died from injuries sustained in a fall on the pavement.
