CONCERT IN AID OF COPPER TRAIL
* The members of Mr. E. J.-.ißurt's Eketahuna orchestra gave their first concert in the Town Hall, Eketahuna, last week. Half proceeds were in aid of the Copper Trail. The concert was a splendid success,' and the performers, most of whom came from Wellington to assist—received a most flattering reception. The orchestra,, wfuch consists of seventeen members, is a distinct asset to the town, and their numbers displayed 'care and taste. Miss Nellie Castle charmed the audience with her artistic rendering of "Lovely Spring" and. "Brother o' Mine." M,iss Violet Mueller sang "The Great Red Dawn" and. "I Go My Way Singing" with her usual sweetness. . Mr. Will Brown delighted his hearers with songs and ■ recitations. • Songs were also rendered by Messrs. Wells and Woodger., and a cornet solo by Mr. Fox. All performers were vociferously encored. The concert finished with the playing of the National Anthems of England, France, Russia, Belgium, Italy, and America, orchestrated by Mr. E. J. Burt. Mr. and Mrs. Burt afterwards entertained a largo number at supper, when a most enjoyable time was spent.
