TRENTHAM WINS OUP FINAL.

The final of tho men's, hockey championship was played -at Karori Park on Saturday afternoon between Trentham A and Ramblers. Despite'a very 1 strong wind, the game was of an interesting nature, and at times there were some brilliant flashes of play. ■ Not altogether unexpectedly, Trentham won, by two goals to one, and it must be said that on their play throughout- the season the men from the camp thoroughly deserve their win. ... , •■■ V. ,

Trentham had the advantage of the •wind in the first spell, but for the first quarter of an hour play was very even, and centred about the half-way line. The khaki forwards played with fine combination, and carried out some pretty passing rushes, which, however, Ramblers' backs, led by Hancock, were able to effectively stop.' 'Subsequently the-Ram-blers carried the ball into the'Trentham half, and later into'the circle, where Blackie secured possession, and put in a stiff shot from tne .left wing,, which the goalkeeper was unable to save. Ramblers 1, Trentham 0. From now on to the end of the spell, Trentham attacked with fine vim, and time, after time the forwards came near to scoring. .' Over-eagerness and hard lucq, however, combined to prevent them evening up with Ramblers. The spell.ended shortly afterwards, One down, Trehjiham took the field in the second spell determined upon, either drawing or winning, -and soon- after play recommenced ChanroiVess,; the scoring forward of the camp team, baffled Ramblers' goalkeeper. Eventually.:the'Trentham forwards once more gained possession, and after some hard play' Champness again scored. Trentham 2; Ramblers'!.
