U.S.A. ROADS.

In New Zealand we h.ave come to regard America as a country where the motorist's road-wants are well supplied. The Motor (England), has a different opin« ion. It stated in a recent issue: "There is a general speeding up of road improvement in U.S.A., the extent of which may be gauged from the fact that about £53,000,000 will be expended upon the work this {rear. Large as this sum appears, it does not allow for much being done, taking into account the vast area of the States. It would, in fact, probably take fifty years of steady improvement to bring the States up to the standard of the leading European countries in the matter of roads. But for such improvement as is being effected it is certain that the development of motoring has exerted! a powerful influence."
